GARIBALDI, OR - On Friday afternoon fire crews from Garibaldi, Nehalem Bay, Bay City and Tillamook Fire were called to an address on Miami River Road near milepost 4 for a reported house fire. When crews arrived they found heavy fire coming from the second story windows of the house.
Do to the rural area the house was located fire crews initially had a hard time establishing a water supply. Additional water tender trucks were called to the scene to assist with the water supply. Fire crews were eventually able to pull water from a near by creek to fight the fire.
The fire burned for several hours but by 7pm that evening fire crews had the blaze under control. Fire crews remained on scene late into the night extinguishing hot spots that flared up.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Luckily no one was injured in the but the family who lived in the house did lose several pets to the fire.
