TIERRA DEL MAR, OR - At around 6:30 Sunday evening, personnel with Nestucca Fire & Rescue where dispatched to a report of a paraglider stuck in trees near Sandlake Road in Tierra Del Mar. When personnel arrived, they found the paraglider and its pilot nearly 50 feet up in a group of trees. Members of the Netarts/Oceanside Fire and Rescue's Rope Rescue Team were called in to assist Nestucca Fire with extricating the pilot from the trees.
A rescuer scaled a tree and rigged up a rope system to lower the paraglider pilot down to the ground. After more than 2 hours of hanging 50 feet up in the group of trees, the pilot was finally freed from the trees and was back on the ground. The paraglider pilot was evaluated by medical personnel on scene but was not transport to the hospital.
