TILLAMOOK, OR- Shilo Inn in Tillamook had to be evacuated Thursday afternoon when multiple people were exposed a chemical that made them ill.
At around 1:40 pm Fire and medical personnel, along with the police, were dispatched to Shilo inn after several people were exposed to a chemical and then fell ill. The entire Shilo Inn complex was evacuated while fire personnel cleared the buildings of residual chemical. At least 6 people were taken to Tillamook Regional Medical Center for treatment while other were treated on scene. Emergency personnel were on scene for about two and a half hours.
A pest control contractor was on site at Shilo Inn preforming work in one of the building when the incident occurred. Information on the chemical involved in the incident, or the condition of the people taken to the hospital is not known at this time.
Tillamook Fire District was assisted on scene by Tillamook Ambulance, Tillamook City Police, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, Netarts-Oceanside Fire & Rescue and Bay City Fire Department. Personnel from Nestucca Rural Fire & Rescue and Pacific West Ambulance provided coverage during the incident.
