MANZANITA, OR - At around 3pm Thursday afternoon, emergency crews from Nehalem Bay Fire and Tillamook Ambulance along with Troopers from the Oregon State Police responded to a report of a single vehicle roll-over crash on U.S. 101 near milepost 40 in Oswald West State Park.
Witnesses stated seeing the vehicle traveling recklessly at a high rate of speed before losing control, rolling multiple times and then coming to rest about 50 feet off the highway. Due to the nature of the incident emergency crews requested Life Flight to assist at the scene.
Fire crews were able to assist the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, up to the highway using a litter and ropes. Life Flight was able to land in a near by parking lot where the driver was transferred to them for transport to a Portland area hospital for treatment.
The identity and the condition of the drive was not available. Oregon State Police is investigating the crash.
