WARRENTON, OR - Officials have identified Spc. Devin James Kuhn as the soldier who killed last Wednesday night after accidentally being shot during training at Camp Rilea. After the training accident occurred Kuhn was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria where doctors pronounced him died. Kuhn's death is under investigation.
Kuhn was assigned to Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington State. During Kuhn's time the Army, he was awarded and decorated with the National Defense Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, the Expert Infantryman's Badge, the Parachutist Badge and the Ranger Tab. He also served as an automatic rifleman in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. Kuhn is survived by his wife and parents.
Camp Rilea is operated by the Oregon Military Department and is the primary training facility for the Oregon National Guard. Camp Rilea is also used for law enforcement and Federal Armed Forces training.
