The basketball season wrapped up this weekend for local teams.
Neah-Kah-Nie mens and women's basketball both entered into the Northwest League Playoffs. Nestucca's women's team joined the Pirates in the playoffs as well.
The Pirate's mens team played Portland Christian on Tuesday, winning 68-51 to advance to game play on Thursday against Knappa. The Pirates lost to Knappa 56-46, but were sent to a consolation match on Saturday. They fell to Gaston in the 3rd place match up on Saturday.
The Pirate's women's team won a closely contested match up against Faith Bible last Wednesday, winning 26-24, before falling to Portland Christian 53-28. They played in a consolation match on Saturday, losing to City Christian 41-31.
The Bobcats were knocked out in first round play, losing to City Christian.
The Northwest League is sending Knappa and Columbia Christian to the 2A State Playoffs on the mens side. Portland Christian and Vernonia will be representing the Northwest League on the women's side.
The Cheesemakers hosted Valley Catholic on Thursday in their final game of the season.
The Lady Cheesemakers fell early in the match up, but were able to reduce the deficit in the third quarter, tying the game at two different points. After three Cheesemakers fouled out in short succession, Valley Catholic took advantage of the Cheesemakers in the fourth quarter. The Valiants of Valley Catholic beat out the Cheesemakers 53-45. The women's team ended the season 0-8 in league play and 9-13 in overall play.
The mens game was not a closely contested match up like the lady's game. Valley Catholic came out strong, dominating the Cheesemakers throughout the whole game. Each quarter saw the deficit get larger and larger. Tillamook lost 70-31. The mens team ends the season 0-8 in league play and 3-19 in overall play.
