The Nestucca Bobcats hosted the Columbia Christian Knights on Tuesday, while the Pirates from Neah Kah Nie hosted Portland Christian.
The Bobcats came out strong against the Knights, winning the first set 25-13. The Knights grabbed the lead early in the second set, but were not able to hold it, with The Bobcats coming back to win it 25-21. With the opening of the third set, it was obvious the Bobcats weren't going to back off, winning the final set to sweep the Knights from Columbia Christian 3 sets to 0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-18).
Neah Kah Nie Pirates
The Pirates hosted Portland Christian, but did not fare well. Unlike their county rivals, the Pirates weren't able to find success, losing 3 sets to 0 (25-8, 25-7, 25-7),
The Bobcats have won six in a row, dominating their opponents. Their domination shows as they have only lost two games out of ten. They sit ranked 19th in the 2A Classification, with an 8-4 overall record and a 4-1 league record.
The Pirates, on the other hand, are searching for more wins. They saw early season success against City Christian and Clatskanie, but wins have been hard to come by since. They are 2-7 overall, and 1-4 in league play.
The two county rivals will face each other next week at Nestucca High School. The game will be Tuesday, September 25th at 7pm. The previous matchup between the two teams saw Nestucca win 3-0.
