Neah Kah Nie Volleyball hosted county rivals Nestucca last night in an early league match up.
Nestucca came out strong, taking an early lead against the Pirates. The Bobcats experience playing together showed. The team had played 6 games together prior to last night's match up. What didn't show, was signs of fatigue from playing the day before.
Nestucca dominated the first two sets, 25-16, 25-12. The Pirates weren't going to go down without a fight, though. With support from the crowd, the Pirates were able to test the confident Bobcats. The third set proved to not be an easy win for the Bobcats like the previous two sets. The score remained close, unlike the previous two, as Neah Kah Nie battled to stay alive.
Unfortunately, the Bobcats were able to pull away, winning the third set, clinching victory for the match up. Neah Kah Nie will get their chance to get revenge at the end of the month when they travel to Cloverdale to take on the Bobcats.
Both teams will be busy this weekend as they are both involved in local tournaments. Neah Kah Nie will be hosting a tournament at home, while Nestucca will be traveling to Molalla.
Nestucca faced Delphian on the softball diamond this afternoon, hoping to break their losing streak.
It didn't take long for the runs to begin racking up on the scoreboard. The Bobcats kept Delphian from scoring in the first inning, despite runners being on base, It was the bottom of the inning when Nestucca took advantage of Delphian. The Dragons were able to get the first out, but walked the next two runners, Olivia Leslie and Shamilee Chatelian. They each were able to advance on stolen bases. A double by Dakota Logan brought in the two runners, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead at the end of the 1st.
The top of the second was the closest Delphian got to scoring. A runner came around 3rd hoping to beat out the throw to home, but was tagged out for the inning's 3rd and final out. The bottom of the second proved to be the most productive for the Bobcats, scoring 5 runs.
Nestucca was able to hold Delphian to 0 runs the rest of the game, while gaining another 3 runs before the end of the game. Their 10-0 win over Delphian is their first win in the league.
Nestucca is currently 1-9 in league play and 5-12 overall.
Delphian is still looking for their first league win.
