Tillamook Cheesemaker soccer kicked off the season today, facing the Marshfield Pirates. The mens team traveled to Marshfield, while the women's team hosted the Pirates.
The Lady Cheesemakers got a quick start to the match, scoring their first goal in within the first 10 minutes of the game. The Cheesemakers would continue to dominate the half, keeping possession mostly in the Pirate's defensive side of the field. The Cheesemakers would again score in the 14th minute with a follow up goal in the 16th minute. The half would see two more goals from Tillamook, sending the Cheesemakers to the half time break with a 5 - 0 lead.
The Pirates proved to be not much of a threat in the second half, but did test Tillamook's defense a few times more than in the first half. It was Tillamook's offense that continued to pounce. Goals were scored by the Cheesemakers in the 42nd, 60th, 78th, and 80th minutes. The 4 goals put the Cheesemakers on top, winning 9 - 0.
With the win, the Lady Cheesemakers start their season 1-0.
