Tillamook softball faced Astoria for the last time this season at home on Tuesday. Early success from Astoria put a damper on the spirits of the Cheesemakers. Astoria scored 9 runs in the first two innings, then added 4 more in the 3rd inning.
By the end of the 4th inning, Tillamook was able to score 3 runs, going into the 5th, and potentially last, inning 10 runs down. Strong pitching and defense held Astoria from scoring, while Tillamook was able to score 1 run in the bottom half of the inning to continue into the 6th inning. Astoria put 3 more runs on the board by the end of the game. Tillamook surged in the final 2 innings, scoring 7 more runs, but fell short, losing 16-11.
Despite todays loss, Tillamook saw a fair amount of success last week, winning 3 of 4 games.
Tillamook has 2 games left in the regular season. They will travel to Banks tomorrow before hosting Valley Catholic on Friday.
