Baseball and Softball at the three local high schools is in full swing. Games started last week, including a county opening day matchup between Tillamook and Neah-Kah-Nie.
Tillamook Baseball and Softball
Tillamook baseball kicked off their season against Newport. They played away in the first in a three week string of away games. They fell to Newport 13-1. The Cheesemakers traveled to Seaside for the weekend (15th-17th March) to participate in a 3 day tournament, winning one of three games. They returned to the north coast to play against Waldport on the 19th of March.
Tillamook softball kicked off the season with a win against Neah-Kah-Nie. The Cheesemakers would win 4 in a row before falling to Gladstone yesterday, 13-3. The Cheesemakers next home game is Thursday, March 21st against Molalla.
Neah-Kah-Nie Baseball and Softball
Pirates Baseball opened their season at home with a 5-4 win against Santiam. They traveled to Waldport on Friday in the first of three road games, winning 20-8. The Pirates return home for a match up against Vernonia on Friday, March 22nd.
Pirates Softball opened their season against Tillamook at home on a chilly afternoon last week. They fell 33-0 against the Cheesemakers. They hosted Santiam at home, before traveling to Waldport, then returned this week to host a double header against Vernonia. The Pirates were unable to secure a win in their recent matchups.
Nestucca BAseball and Softball
Nestucca Baseball started their season with a canceled game to weather, but didn't have to wait long to get out on the diamond. The next day game against Willamina was a go, with the Bobcats winning 21-2. The Bobcats started their weekend with a loss against Warrenton, but came back on Monday to beat out Portland Christian twice in a double header matchup (6-4, 4-2).
Bobcats Softball started the season with a loss, losing to Warrenton 20-10. They would reverse that score the next day in a match up against Regis, this time winning 20-10. The Bobcats travelled to Portland Christian on Monday, meeting them out twice in a double header matchup, 28-0 and 16-4
Both Bobcats teams will host Portland Christian tomorrow, March 20th at 430pm.
