The Nestucca Bobcats hosted county rivals Neah Kah Nie Pirates on the volleyball court on Tuesday.
The two previously met earlier in the season at the home of the Pirates, with Nestucca winning that meet up 3-0. The Bobcats were able to dominate this match up as well, winning again 3 sets to 0.
Both Neah Kah Nie and Nestucca faced Gaston later in the week. Neah Kah Nie hosted Gaston on Thursday, losing 3-0. Nestucca traveled to Gaston on Friday, falling to the Greyhounds in a rare loss 3-1.
The season for the two northwest league teams seems to be a tale of two polarized teams. Nestucca has been dominant on the court. Nestucca's loss on Friday was their first defeat since the 5th of September. Their 9 game winning streak between the 5th and Friday's losss saw the Bobcats only drop 1 set. Otherwise, they were flawless in competition. They currently sit 11-5 overall, 6-2 in league standings. They are ranked 23rd in the 2A division.
Neah Kah Nie, on the other hand, has been struggling this season. They were able to snag two wins early in the season, but have not seen a win since the 8th of September when they hosted a round robin volleyball tournament. The Pirates luck has been low; while Nestucca has been dominating their match ups, the Pirates have been swept every game since their win on the 8th. They have a 2-9 overall record, 1-6 for the season. They are currently ranked 39th in the 2A division.
