The Tillamook Cheesemakers hosted the Astoria Fishermen in a late season matchup on Thursday.
The Lady Mooks kicked off the double header, facing off against the #8 ranked team in the 4A Classification from Astoria. The Fishermen kicked off the first quarter with a 10-0 run, dominating the court. They extended their lead over the Cheesemakers in the second quarter, going into half time with a 29-11 score. The second half proved to be difficult for the Cheesemakers as well, losing to Astoria 68-35. The Lady Cheesemakers are 0-6 in league play with an overall 9-11 record. The mens teams for both the Cheesemakers and the Fishermen have been struggling this season in league play. The match up between the two teams was a tight back and forth contest which saw the several lead changes. The Cheesemakers were unable to maintain the lead, giving the Fishermen only their second league win. The final score was 42-38. The Cheesemakers are 0-6 in league play and 3-17 overall. Both teams travel to take on Seaside on Tuesday, February 12th. Seaside's Mens Team is ranked #2 in the 4A Classification. Seaside's Womens team is ranked #18 in the 4A Classification, but have found little success in league play, going only 1-5. The Cheesemakers return home on Thursday, February 14th for Senior Night against Valley Catholic.
