Tuesday the 2nd of October proved to be a rough day for county volleyball. All three teams lost their match ups as the end of the season nears.
NEAH KAH NIE
The Neah Kah Nie Pirates hosted their final home game of the season. They celebrated Senior Night while also raising awareness for breast cancer.
The Pirates hosted the Falcons of Faith Bible. Both teams have struggled this season, with Faith Bible only having 1 win while the Pirates only having 2 wins coming into this match up.
The two teams played an evenly played match up, but Faith Bible took the Pirates in three sets, 25-22, 26-24, 25-21.
Neah Kah Nie has three games left in the season, all of which are on the road.
The Nestucca Bobcats have had a fairly successful season. They headed to Gaston last Friday riding a 9 game winning streak. Gaston had other plans, beating the Bobcats 3-1. Nestucca had hoped for better results against Vernonia on Tuesday, but once again fell 3-0. These losses are the first that Nestucca have had since the 5th of September when they fell to Portland Christian. The Bobcats have otherwise dominated their opponents winning matches 3-0 , or rarely giving up a set, winning 3-1. The Bobcats have 4 games left in the season, with their last two games at home.
The Bobcats sit 11-6 overall, 6-3 in league play. Their only league losses have been to the three teams above them in the standings. They are currently sitting in 4th place in league play and are ranked 20th in the 2A Classification.
After a successful week last week, Tillamook fell to the #1 (4A Classification) ranked Valley Catholic. The match up went to all 5 sets, with each set closely contested.
The Cheesemakers sit 2nd in Cowapa League play. They are ranked 5th in the 4A Classification. They will be participating in two tournaments, one this weekend and one next weekend, and have four league games left. Their last game, and last home game, will be on Thursday the 18th of October. It will be a rematch of Tuesdays matchup against Valley Catholic.
