Thursdays game against Estacada was the Cheesemakers final pre season game, and their 4th win. You could see the confidence and excitement in the players on and off the field. The second half saw the ladies down 2 goals to 1, but morale was not low. A penalty kick was called in favor of the Cheesemakers, which was scored, leveling the scoreboard.
Several minutes of back and forth play, as well as a few missed opportunities for Estacada allowed for Tillamook's strength to build back up into the offensive field. It was with less than 10 minutes left in the match that the Cheesemakers were able to really pull ahead, scoring 2 goals in close succession. When the whistle blew ending the game, the stands and bench went nuts.
The program has made a huge turn around this season. The Lady Cheesemakers haven't ever had a winning season. This season is the first time since 2013 that they have gotten a win on their record, let alone the 4 they have garnered so far this season. This puts them ahead of the 2013 campaign, where they only saw 2 wins, both in pre-season play.
But back to the 4 goals scored in this game. Let's emphasis that there were 4 goals scored by Tillamook IN THIS GAME! In the 2017 season, they scored a total of 7 goals throughout the whole season. Games cannot be won without putting the ball in the back of the net. That is something that they have been able to do this season.
With this win against Estacada, the Cheesemakers have gone to a 4-2 record in pre-season, non league play. They will have the first part of next week off before starting league play on Thursday. Banks will be coming to Tillamook with a 2-2 pre-season record.
